Meet Your Teacher!

Hi there! I’m Anneliese, the founder of Yoga with Anneliese. I'm a certified Vinyasa and family yoga instructor with several years of experience teaching yoga to all ages and abilities.

What sets me apart is my unique blend of expertise in both yoga and education. In addition to my yoga training and certification, I hold a Master’s degree in Education and am a certified New York State Educator. This dual background allows me to create enriching, developmentally appropriate yoga experiences for all learners.

My mission is to provide a welcoming space where students of all abilities can explore yoga’s physical and spiritual dimensions. My classes often incorporate mindfulness, meditation, yoga philosophy, and physical asanas to create a well-rounded and engaging practice.

I completed my yoga teacher training with YogaWorks in 2019 after graduating from SUNY Purchase, where I studied Music Management and Songwriting. Becoming a yoga teacher had been a longtime dream of mine, and I remain deeply grateful for where this path has led me.

My interest in yoga began long before my teacher training. Growing up Catholic sparked a curiosity about spirituality, mindfulness, and our connection to something greater than ourselves. As a teenager, I began exploring yoga and meditation on my own. In high school, I would take the train a few stops downtown after school to attend donation-based yoga classes, and what started as curiosity soon became a meaningful and consistent practice.

After completing my teacher training, I wasn't entirely sure where the journey would lead. One of the principles I learned in yoga school was satya, which is living and acting in alignment with our truth. For me, that truth has always included a love of teaching and working with children. After becoming an early childhood educator, I began teaching children's yoga on the side through after-school programs, summer camps, and community organizations.

Over time, my yoga practice and teaching career grew alongside one another. Each year brought new opportunities, new students, and new experiences. What started as a small side business gradually expanded into a full roster of private and group clients of all ages and abilities. In the summer of 2025, I was able to leave my full-time teaching position and pursue my work as a yoga entrepreneur full-time.

Along the way, I've had the privilege of teaching yoga and mindfulness to children living in transitional housing through Homes for the Homeless, creating free and accessible programming in partnership with the Queens Public Library, and sharing many special and meaningful moments with my students of all ages and abilities.

I am grateful for every student, family, colleague, and mentor who has been part of this path. Each person has taught me something valuable and helped me grow, both as a teacher and as a person. As I look ahead, I feel a deep sense of excitement for what is still to come. In many ways, it feels like this journey is only just beginning.
